Solent regional director talks devolution at conference

A regional director from a world-leading engineering firm will take a deep dive into Hampshire and Solent devolution at a Southampton property conference this autumn.

Megan Carter, Regional Director at global engineering firm Atkins Realis, will speak at South Coast CPS’s Policy, Power & Portside Opportunity on Thursday 25th September at the Harbour Hotel in Ocean Village.

On the day, the event will play host to open networking with live music followed by a three-course lunch and entry to the Southampton International Boat Show.

Megan’s talk reflects the government’s recently unveiled plans to progress with a new combined authority for Hampshire and Solent.

As a ‘local government enthusiast’ with more than a decade of experience, Megan is passionate about supporting and empowering local authorities to drive growth and investment in their region.

She said: “I’d like to thank South Coast CPS for inviting me to speak – it’s a really exciting opportunity. I think it’s vital that both the local business community and the built environment sector gets to grips with devolution and how it could impact them for the better. There’s a lot of myths surrounding the topic and I want to break these down.”

Megan’s talk will be a first glimpse into some of the topics set to be covered at the South Coast CPS Conference on Thursday 13th November 2025 – the region’s ‘biggest ever’ commercial property show.

Director of South Coast CPS Lucy Richmond said: “Guests will gain expert insight from Megan into what devolution is and what it could mean for local businesses. Many people may be unaware of what’s happening in our region and the changes that could be just around the corner.”
